A Brief CV

R. Ahmad Zaky El Islami, Ph.D. has been serving as a Research Associate at the Faculty of Education, University of Pretoria, South Africa since 2025. R. Ahmad Zaky El Islami is an Associate Professor in STEM Education at the Department of Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Indonesia since 2015 and was appointed as Head of External, Internal and Scientific Publications Grants at the Institute for Research and Community Service, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa since 2024. In addition, he also serves as Secretary General of the Perkumpulan Pendidik IPA Indonesia, an Indonesian Association for Science Educators. He is the Editor in Chief of the Jurnal Penelitian dan Pembelajaran IPA indexed by the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Web of Science (WoS) since 2015 and an Editorial Board Member of Discover Education indexed by ERIC and Scopus since 2024. He is also the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of STEM Education for Sustainability indexed by EBSCO since 2021. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry education from Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2010, a master's degree in natural science education from the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia in 2013, and a Ph.D. degree in science education from Kasetsart University, Thailand, in 2022. His research focuses on STEM Education, MII-STEM, STEM Literacy, Outdoor STEM Education, and AI in STEM Education. He has published two books and also articles in national and international journals indexed by Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and others such as: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pembelajaran IPA from Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Curriculum Perspectives from Springer, Sustainability from MDPI, International Journal of Educational Research Open from Elsevier, Asia-Pacific Science Education from Brill, and African Journal of Research in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education from Taylor & Francis and others. He is a lecturer in Basic Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Philosophy of Education, Curriculum and Learning, Modern Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Integrated Science Learning, and STEM Education. He has received several national and international research grants such as from the UK in 2019 (GCRF), a research collaboration between the UK, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand on MII-STEM. In addition, from South Africa in 2024-2026 (Competitive Program for Ranked Researcher Grants), a research collaboration between Indonesia and South Africa on AI in Life Sciences Education, and from Thailand in 2025 (CLMV+2 Research Scholarship 2025), a research collaboration between Indonesia and Thailand on Outdoor STEM Education. Additionally, he got International achievement from Springer in 2025; Springer Nature Editorial Contribution Awards 2025 and Springer Nature Author Service Award 2025.
